Despite the heat (I think I got heat exhaustion on a run yesterday — in OCTOBER), Boise is in beautiful form this month. After some delicious looking menu specials, I’ve got some fall recommendations for your week.
🧂 Something to salivate over Taste of Downtown Boise has released the menus for the restaurant week, which runs Oct. 16 - 25. If you aren’t familiar, restaurants put together special menus — from budget items to prix fixe courses — as a flash in the pan of innovation. I’m looking at Coa de Jima’s $14 mango margarita and birria taco combo and Leku Ona’s three course meal. Call a friend and make a plan!
📽️ Something to get nostalgic with A friend reminded me that the Parma Motor-Vu is probably closing up for the season soon, though they haven’t announced a date just yet. With fair weather continuing, hopefully we’ll have a few more weekends before they close. Caldwell’s Terrace Drive-In is already closed for the season, making Parma’s the only option drive-in theater in the valley.
🍂 Something to see before autumn ends I’ve seen so many Facebook group, Nextdoor, and Reddit posts from Boise newcomers asking: “So…where do you keep your fall leaves?” And you have to wince, because if they’re coming from the east coast, we just can’t meet their foliage expectations. But there are pockets in the City of Trees that can — and they’re worth seeking out. Specifically, Kathryn Albertson Park is at its absolute best right now.
